So I got to have a vacation of sorts, which was really nice!
One of my friends from college was getting married...
I was a bridesmaid.
Me and my mom left on Friday.
Destination:
Kansas City.
We got there early so I was able to go to the dance store.
So great.
We got Chinese food.
Also great.
Then we found our respective hotels.
One for her... One for the wedding party.
Super rad.
Friday was a lot of fun.
We had the wedding rehearsal.
Found out I got paired with the fun brother of the groom.
Shenanigans ensued.
For example. He was really really tall.
Taller than the-male-whom-I-am-fond-of... and he is tall!
So to even things out he walked where he was the same height.
That didn't last long, but it was fun!
Then that night we had our little bachelorette party.
We didn't do anything crazy.
We stayed in and did facials and gave the bride a foot soak with epsom salts.
The next day was the wedding.
Oh my gosh.
Darling readers...
It was simply beautiful.
The color was purple.
We had pictures before the wedding,
(She wanted to split them up so that she could get to the reception as soon as possible.)
Those were so fun!
See the bride and I are both very joyful people.
So when we get together our joy doubles and triples.
Sometimes we just laugh for unknown reasons.
We cannot help it.
Then everyone around us ends up laughing.
This was no exception.
We just could not stop laughing.
It was so nice.
Before that I got to do someones hair and makeup!
That was fun!
I love doing that!
It's so much easier to do the hair of others.
Why?
Cause you can see the back.
Okay.
I know this is so not organized, but sorry.
Not that sorry.
During the bachelorette party, the bride was on the verge of tears so many times. So I finally told her that I would have to feed her ice cream until she was happy again. It worked to clear up her tears and just make her laugh instead.
Well this became the running joke. "No crying! The ice cream is in the room right next to us!!!"
Well we are standing there. Watching the wedding.
The pastor was giving a lovely message.
When he gives an example of when she might get mad at her new husband.
The example?
"You might get mad because he has eaten the last of the ice cream."
We all lost it.
We were trying to stifle our laughs, but we still ended up giggling.
It was God who had the pastor say that.
That way the bride's nerves stayed under control.
Then we had pictures of course.
So many pictures.
In fact... I am curious to see how some of these pictures turned out.
Me and my shenanigan buddy (who is my little brothers age) gave the bride and groom bunny ears.
It was great.
Then we did a serious one.
Sadly, the-male-whom-I-am-fond-of was not able to make it...
However!
I did get to see him still!
The first night we hung out with my mother.
Until he and I walked over to Wendy's for ice cream.
My mom is so funny.
I walked into the hotel room after saying goodbye and praying with him.
I sat down on the bed.
I was a gooey melty chocolate chip cookie mess.
My mom looked over and just lost it.
I like hugs.
But only from select people.
And he is one of the select people.
The next evening we got to walk around the Plaza
It was fun.
We went to Barnes and Noble.
IT WAS FOUR STORIES! THERE WAS A BASEMENT AND THREE FLOORS ON TOP OF THAT!!!
IT WAS MAGICAL!!!!
Well.
We started at the top floor with the children's books and worked our way down.
We read Fox in Socks as fast as we could (bonus points for doing voices).
He got bonus points. I did not.
But I read it faster!
I think that was one of my favorite parts.
Then we went outside and it was raining.
We did not have an umbrella, and it was a bit chilly.
So he had his arm around me.
We walked past this one family.
The family itself was entertaining.
There was a twelve year old trying to convince his mom they had to go back to his favorite clothing store.
His mom was trying to convince him of the opposite.
Then there were two teenage girls trailing a little ways behind.
Of course the-male-whom-I-am-fond-of and I were arm in arm.
As we passed them they started to sing "Oooh myyyy loovveee!"
It was not that loud, but I heard it.
It was humorous.
At least I found it to be so.
Time just never seems long enough.
Time flies so so quick.
I always enjoy the time with him.
It doesn't have to be fancy.
I enjoy exploring parks with him.
I enjoy talking to him.
I enjoy laughing with him.
Holding his hand is like being anchored and being able to fly all at the same time.
Seems silly.
But it is true.
He is a wonderful guy.
God has given him this large caring heart.
The-male-whom-I-am-fond-of just genuinely cares about people.
And he is a gentleman.
And that is a wonderful thing to see.
OH!
I should tell you about my new friend!
She and I were bummed we didn't meet in college.
But now we planned to meet up
In fact she "accidentally forgot on purpose" to get her earrings back from me. That way I have to go meet her and we will have to hang out.
So yeah.
I have had a great weekend.
How was yours?
