Lets see. Let's start with Christmas.
It was really good.
I got a dvd player and a nerdy sweatshirt.
Perfect for a day of vegging (granted at this point, I didn't have a tv)
Then I went on a two day massive vacation.
I went to visit like 12 people.
Let me tell you that is a high goal.
On Tuesday I saw my twin and my junior block buddy.
We had breakfast and did our tradition.
Then I had tea with my mentor teacher from last year.
Then I had chinese with my friends.
The next day I decided to drive up to Kansas City.
It is not super close.
Not super far either.
Just not close.
Kansas City was the whole reason that I went to visit my friends in my college town.
That way I'd be closer to my goal.
And yes. I had one person in mind when planning, but I saw others too.
I started with meeting an internet friend that I have had for five years.
Then I saw an old class mate from college.
We went to Starbucks.
So I am sitting at this table waiting for her.
And to my left I notice this couple.
A guy and a girl.
The girl was talking and the guy was smiling politely.
The more I watched the more I realized it was a first date.
A REALLY BAD first date.
She was doing everything you shouldn't.
Talking about her exes, talking about other boys, texting.
The poor guy tried, and then closed off and gave up.
(I had to explain to Bethany how I knew).
Well the guy saw that I was staring at him.
So he jumps into the conversation and starts talking in a very animated way. Then, as smooth as could be, he nodded with an extra large smile in my direction.
I blushed and giggled and told Bethany.
Then in the middle of the story I was telling Bethany I felt eyes on me. (It's a normal feeling, I am a teacher) and I looked up and saw him staring at me.
So I smiled a brilliant smile. And he BLUSHED.
Oh he blushed so red.
It was hilarious.
Then as she was taking off her coat, he suggested they leave.
Not a good first date for them.
I hope things get better.
Then the moment I was waiting for.
I got to see the male-whom-I-am-fond-of.
That is right.
Oh my gosh I cannot even describe how nervous I was.
I hadn't seen him since July.
And I just didn't know how things would go.
So I drove to our meeting point.
He wasn't there.
I texted him and found out he was going to be a little late.
Which was fine because those things happen.
It gave me time to slow down my pulse and give myself a pep talk.
Then he calls me.
Changes location and I drive over there.
So we are just chatting on the phone.
Gosh.
I love his voice.
Then.
He arrives.
He gets out of the car.
He stops.
I stop.
My heart stops.
His eyes does this softening thing.
And then he says, "Wow. Your hair IS short."
I just respond about it being longer than in July.
Then he beelines it to the starbucks in Hyvee.
I am telling you.
That boy knows me a little too well.
We go back to his apartment and he looks up to see if plan A is available. It wasn't.
And for not being "planned" the evening sure was planned.
We had coffee (of course)
He made me tacos. (He knows me VERY well)
We watched Moana. (He didn't want to watch Sing because of the dancing pigs.)
Then we went back to his apartment and watched the last two episodes of a show I had finished.
It was a great vacation.
Oh.
And he gave me his extra tv.
It's an old one.
But you know what.
It's a tv.
It's name is Stanlee.
So overall yeah. My vacation was amazing.
(IF YOU ARE NOT IN THE MOOD FOR SAPPY JUST SKIP THE NEXT PARAGRAPH!!!!) (THAT WAS YOUR WARNING)
Can I just say that of every man I have ever come across. The male-whom-I-am-fond-of is still the only one that gets my heart racing. That puts millions of butterflies in my stomach. Who sends electricity through me with a simple arm brush against my arm. Who can make my day better with a simple phone call. Just simple talking makes my day a million times better. I could listen to him all day. He can make me laugh even when I don't necessarily want to. And that is a good skill. I can only hope that I do the same to him. His heart is after God. He is just... a wonderful wonderful man. No matter how much he may try to deny it.
And I know everyone is posting their favorite happenings of 2016. So I guess I will too. In no particular order here are my top three:
1. I graduated College
2. I got a job.
3. The male-whom-I-am-fond-of kissed me.
If I could label them all as one I would.
Also:
1. I got to see The male-whom-I-am-fond-of.
2. I have an apartment.
3. The ridiculously long walk with The male-whom-I-am-fond-of in May. (where it rained three times and we had a few fairytale movie moments)
4. I get to use fire and blow stuff up (within reason and for educational purposes) at work.
5. God has provided everything I need and even what I want at times. (This really should be number one.)
I can't wait to see how 2017 goes. I am sure it will be good.
