Basically I earn 25 dollars a week at gymnastics
It becomes my gas money.
It was in my pocket...
waiting for the moment it would serve its purpose.
I got to the station
walked in
with all the confidence of someone who can pay for a full tank
Put my hand in my pocket.
And cried.
My money was gone.
Gone.
It had been there.
But now it wasn't
And no I didn't spend it.
I stood there reeling..
Completely embarrassed that my eyes were leaking...
I had a small breakfast pastry in my one hand...
I told them I didn't want it,
I could only do 3 dollars on my card with confidence.
#teacherprobs
I was mortified.
The older gentleman behind the counter walked around to the front.
Paid for my donut.
Even though I told him I didn't need it.
He still got it for me.
I put in my 3 dollars.
Cried a bit more..
Because stress.
But you know what.
God will provide.
Am I feeling the stretch??
Oh yeah.
This month had some surprises.
And it is very tight.
I have 11 days until pay day.
It's a bit intimidating.
But God has never once failed me before.
I am here to say that it's okay to cry.
It's okay to have that release.
But then you need to let go and let God.
Meaning.
Don't hold onto the worry...
Give it to God.
What good will it do to fret about something you cannot control?!
Hint.
It won't...
So if you are having a bit of a rough patch too...
You aren't alone.
You are doing awesome.
You will get through this.
God will provide in his timing and in his way.
In the Bible there was this story I just LOVED as a kid.
It was Matthew 17: 24-27.
For those of you who don't have a Bible encyclopedia in their heads... Don't worry I had to google it because I couldn't remember the address...
Anyways.
The story is about Peter and Jesus.
They were in a town where there was a tax that needed to be paid.
The tax collectors were like, "Dude. Your Teacher pays taxes right?"
Peter said, "Uh. Yeah. Dude."
Then he goes back to where they were staying.
Jesus talks first and talks about where kings and leaders get their tax money from. He says they don't want to cause an offense to this town's leaders...
(By the way... this is an abridged version...)
They needed 4 drachma coins to pay the tax, right?
So Jesus tells Peter.
"Go fishing and pull in the first fish that bites your line. Open it's mouth and you will find four drachma that we need to pay the taxes."
Peter, being a fisherman and all, does just that.
In the fishes mouth...
THERE WERE FOUR COINS!
FOUR COINS IN THE FISHES MOUTH!
By the way,
That is the EXACT amount they needed to pay the tax!
God provided for them in the uncanniest way!
I have always loved that story for the sheer ridiculousness and creativity of having it in the fishes mouth!
God is so cool and funny and creative and wonderful and provides!
So don't be discouraged.
God will send your fish.
Trust him, and don't worry.
There is your Bible story for the day as told by Emilie.
Don't lost hope.
Don't ever become so discouraged about finances or anything in life that you lose focus of just how mighty, powerful, and loving our God is.
Take heed in the lessons that he is teaching you, and allow him to shape you and help you grow into the person he is calling you to be.
He has a plan.
His plans always work out.
Even when our plans don't.
Keep your chins up buttercups.
