And yet nothing at all.
I am serious.
If you look at history.
We look back and are like, "Ah simpler times. Better Times"
When if you start reading their journals and really really looking past the honeymoon part of history, they went things that are so freakishly similar to what we go through every day.
People went through heart breaks, death, happiness, frustrations, exhilarations, ups, downs, and everything.
Our sense of humor as the human race has barely even changed.
One thing though.
I never realized.
Like I read about it in the Bible, but it never really struck me as being important or odd...
I realized this when reading about this in a book by Andrew Wommack with my friend.
God talked with the early people of the world.
He just spoke with them on a regular bases.
For instance when Cain killed Able, he spoke to Cain and Cain responded as if it were a normal occurance. There was no "Oh my gosh! Who said that?! Who's there?!"
Cain knew EXACTLY who it was.
Cain was COMFORTABLE with talking to God.
Can you imagine that?!
Being that comfortable with talking to God and hearing him like he was sitting right next to you?
And yet that was normal for them.
Now we as people question God. Is he real? National Geographic is making a video about it, and it breaks my heart that the people they are using in the video are all the people who are skeptical.
You know another that is crazy?
How God protected Cain.
I mean Cain MURDERED his brother because he was jealous.
Just killed him.
But God didn't strike him down.
No.
In fact.
God protected him.
If that doesn't show the Mercy and Grace and Love of our God... I don't think much will.
God could have struck down Cain for lying, for murder, and for being jealous. He could have. But he didn't.
Why?
Because Cain was God's.
Just like Able was God's.
Just like Adam was God's.
Just like Eve was God's.
Just like I am God's.
Just like you are God's.
Once God "adopts" us into his family. We are his forever. All we have to do is accept that we are adopted. We have to want that adoption.
Now most people don't know this.
It's not as common as a concept in our day.
But adoption is more firm and meaningful than a birthright.
Back in the ancient days, if you were adopted, you were that persons, and no one could unadopt. No matter what you did, you were now the person's child for better or for worse. Forever. NO MATTER WHAT!
Now if you were born to the person, they could disown you.
Honest they could.
But not if you were adopted.
Adoption is a strong bond because that person PICKED who they wanted to adopt. And they WANTED that child.
Just like God has PICKED us and WANTS us.
Isn't that great?!
So nothing.
Nothing.
Nothing.
Nothing.
Nothing.
Nothing.
Do you understand? NOTHING!
Can EVER seperate us from God.
We are NO LONGER DEFINED by our SINS.
Yes. We are still going to sin.
We are going to make mistakes.
We are human...
However, we are not all of a sudden DEFINED by those sins.
If we take something, or lust after something God isn't going to all of a sudden say, "Oh no! I can't believe they did that! That's it. They are no longer my child."
Nope.
He doesn't do that.
That is the beauty of redemption.
We are defined as a child of God.
Not as a sinner.
38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[a] neither the present nor the future, nor any powers,39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39.
And he means it.
Nothing can seperate us from his love.
Which I think is awesome and perfect.
Though let me just say this disclaimer. This does not mean that you can go out and just do whatever. There ARE still consequences.
But yeah.
Just a wonderful Sunday thought for you.
Redemption.
How great is it?!
