There was a teacher.
A teacher who taught four grades of science... Plus some extra classes.
A teacher whose students do the craziest things.
A teacher whose students could build the COOLEST models.
So fun story.
I made my students build a cell model...
But it couldn't be a model of the cell.....
Confusing right?!
See they had to make a model of a real world example
(Team, building, store, restaurant, house...etc...)
And then type up a key that tells me which things are which parts of the model... and they have to defend their reasoning.
They would ask me if they could just make a model of a cell.
I told them no.
They'd get to do that in highschool.
So.
THEY MADE THE COOLEST THINGS!
One girl made a skyscraper!
It's about three feet tall!
Another one made this doctor's office that looks so cool!
Oh and today.
I have a group of rough and tumble boys in one of my grades.
Right now there is a switching of power, so they are each trying to out do one another to become pack leader.
Well one of the boys who is usually respectful started to yell that he was in fact NOT talking, after I told him to stop talking.
A student stuck up for me. "Don't argue with the teacher! Be respectful! She know's what she saw!!!"
And this is a boy that I would have NEVER expected.
We have butt heads.
We have had stare downs. (During which I am sure the theme from the good, the bad, and the ugly was playing.)
When he stood up for me.
I did cartwheels! (On the inside!)
CHARACTER GROWTH!!
THAT IS CHARACTER GROWTH!!!
DO YOU KNOW HOW EXCITING THAT IS?!
It's pretty flipping exciting!
